Rain Another Day: A Chic Cover Op
Be the spy who dared to look chic.
April showers are supposed to bring May flowers. Instead, rainy days can make us feel flustered about how to look fashionable when you don’t want to ruin your pants or get your feet wet. Here are my suggestions for classic staples that will make you a double agent for being stylish and practical at the same time.
1. Trench Coat
I’m partial to Burberry for their classic trench coat. Also, I love how Emma Watson is the epitome of stunning in Burberry’s campaign. Whether you choose to splurge for Burberry or go with Banana Republic (see their affordable version of the classic trench coat), you’re guaranteed to succeed on your mission of looking undeniably sleek while traipsing around in the rain. The trench coat is a spring wardrobe staple for sunny days as well, so make sure that you have at least one in rotation.
2. Rain Boots
Make a splash of red with these adorable Hunter Wellies ($125 at Zappos). When it comes to rain boots, I’m all for bright colors and fun patterns. Tuck your jeans or pants into rain boots, or simply wear them with a skirt, to keep your feet cozy and dry even when you “accidentally” step in a puddle. If Hunter is out of your price range, Target has a wide selection of rain boots that won’t need any decoding for you to make a fabulous purchase.
3. Waterproof Bag
Rain is one of leather’s worst enemies. Leave your nice leather handbags at home and get yourself a Longchamp tote. While Longchamp’s Le Pliage is undeniably cliché, it’s also undeniably a classic tote made of sturdy nylon that will protect your goods from getting wet. I love the updated look of Longchamp’s Rose Gold Metal Tote, which is new for this season, and couldn’t help picking one up for myself.
Be shaken, not stirred and survive your rainy days in 007 style.
