“Quick and Healthy Recipe for the Hungry Girl”

The reaping has come.

Don’t get more tesserae simply because you can’t afford another fancy meal out or twenty ingredients for a complicated recipe, many of which you’ll most likely never use again.

Like Katniss, be bold and clever with your weekly meals.

The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins, is part of a trilogy that is gaining cult fans every day.  With the March 23rd release of the movie right around the corner, doB decided to get a little themed with our recipes.  Join us, the world will be watching.

You may not have a friend like Peeta who comes to the culinary rescue time and again, but you can be that person at your weekly movie night with the ladies.  Eating Well magazine has created a Rice, Cheddar & Spinach Pie that uses many ingredients you already have, makes six servings and has enough health benefits to keep you strong…long after the games have begun.

With high amounts of vitamin A, calcium and folate you will be strengthening your diners’ immunity, protecting your bones and producing and maintaining new cells.  If the Tributes of the Games only knew they could get stronger by consuming this easily made pie, even the poorest of District 12 would be fighting for a bite.  If you’re on the fence this recipe, The Huffington Post features many more you can choose from!

While reading the book will hopefully compete with the video games and constant internet usage by your children, this recipe will have your friends and family competing to get to this cornucopia of a treat, leaving the unhealthy snacking behind.

“May the (health food) odds be ever in your favor.”
